I believe that the meaning of the proverb, "'Tis hard for an empty bag to stand upright," refers to a depressed person unable to feel happy or even pretend to be happy. This person cannot feel any emotion because of abuse that they have received. At this point, they are unable to communicate or function properly because of how inadequate they feel. They don't know what to do with themselves to make them feel better; they're lost and confused. For example, after I felt as if I hit rock bottom in swimming, I realized that swimming doesn't define me as a person and I have to push past this obstacle.
Good work Hollis! I liked how your blog was clear and got straight to the point. It was easy to understand what you were trying to say. I didn't see any grammatical errors so nice job. :)
