Poor Richard's Almanac Proverbs By Yumna Amir

The best meaning I can sum up for the proverb "Fish and visitors smell in three days" is that having company for too long isn't always the best thing. At some point, it will annoy you to have your own space occupied by more people. You wouldn't be able to catch up on any personal items of yours, without some type of disruptions. Also, you would feel so comfortable, to the point that you would treat them as your own siblings, showing less respect. For example, My three cousins and their parents came to visit us during the holidays. At first it was fine, seeing them and catching up on stuff. Then at some point, we stared to fight or argue, also picking sides, leaving the other out. At this point I wanted my own privacy back.

Another interesting proverb is "Three may keep a secret, if two are dead". This explains that you can't trust many people with secrets, except yourself. I find this proverb very true for me and as well as others. For example, I became friends with someone who i thought i could trust later on. When the time came, obviously their big mouth wouldn't get smaller, that they spread my secret to a handful people, who were also my friends. Let's just say after some explanations, I stopped tell anything to that person again.

  1. Good job Yumna! I really enjoy your post. It was straight to the point, and got the message across clearly. There were a few minor grammatical errors, but nothing that distracted me from your post.

  2. Yumna! You don't tend to sieze to impress me! It was pretty straight forward like Brooke said. I'm going to concur with Brooke though on this too. Just a few grammatical errors here and there, though I couldn't really tell!

  3. Not bad... a couple of typos. At this point, I shouldn't see careless mistakes. I enjoyed the expression, "their big mouth wouldn't get smaller," because it's very true even with adults.
